sound and pictures for steam
« on: October 06, 2022, 11:03:04 PM »
Good Day Folks:

Just got my first steam locomotive wired up to an lm 3s module.

went to download a picture of my locomotive.  Is there a special archive section where the steam locomotive pictures are kept?

To make things more complicated, my first locomotive is a British Railways, Merchant Navy, 4-6-2 Asiatic Pacific #35024, from Hornby.

Am I missing something or are the pictures primarily of North American Diesel locomotives?

Kind regards,

Max

No your not missing anything. As Ring doesn't sell RailPro outside of North America themselves it is primarily aimed at NA modellers and the selection of pictures available and their ordering in NA railroad company names reflects that, however...

It isn't hard to make your own pictures for RailPro. The steps are contained in the RailPro Assistant manual and also in a few good posts here so I won't repeat them but just to say all you need is a good side on picture of the right size (Bill's Bitmap builder can help immensely there) and your good to go.

RailPro Bitmap Builder

Here is a great video by Ron045 showing how to create and add your own images:

Thank you gentlemen:

Look forward to the project.  I’ve got 14 engines to do.  And of course,I will send them on so ring engineering can post them for others to use,

Kind regards,

Max

Thanks for the help gentlemen.  I got my first locomotive picture downloaded to my hc.  It is the Hornby merchant navy, 35024.

The bitmap program really helped.

Now I need to figure out how to get sound files for this loco.

Kind regards,

Max

Basically, you've got a choice of two steam "engine" sounds which you can download and use, heavy or light. Whistles and other sounds you can try what's on offer from Ring or if you have good recordings available you can make your own whistle sounds etc.
