Removing Wires From the 9-Pin Connector
« on: January 16, 2023, 11:57:32 AM »
Hello,
I have a few G-scale engines running RailPro (which were converted by others), and I'm attempting to convert one on my own. The user manual for the LM-4S-G states that you can remove any unused wires from the 9-pin connector by "lifting the keeper on the connector." Can anyone shed light on how to do this? (If you can share pictures, that would be awesome!) The connector looks like one solid object so I can't figure out what part is the keeper and I don't want to break it by forcing something that shouldn't be forced. Thanks!

Andy G.

push these metal pins down and gently pull on the wire.

Interesting. I never considered doing this as I normally use most of the outputs plus the input. I just loop the unused wires and hold them with some heat shrink.

I assume that if you do this correctly, the wire can be re-inserted if you decide that it is needed in the future?

You can also buy new empty pins connectors from aliexpress/ebay/amazon to solder directly onto all of the stock wires in a loco and just replace the pins in the correct location as needed. No long messy soldered/heat shrink extensions on this baby
Its how I roll my own.
