LM-3S Outputs/Inputs(?)

(1/2) > >>

OccamsRazor:
Hello All,

After a couple of installs I seem to be somewhat getting the hang of installation pitfalls.

Alas... Today as I was installing a LM-3S into a ScaleTrains GE ES44AC, (the CSX 1776 ;D), I noticed something that had not come up for me before.

The LM-3S documentation shows the following diagram:

9 Pin Connector
Output 3 - (Green)
Rail 1 (Red)
Motor + (Orange)
Common + (Blue)
Output 1 (white)
Output 2 (Yellow)
Motor - (Grey)
Rail 2 (Black)
Output 4 (Violet)

So far. So good.

6 Pin Connector
Output 5 (Green)
Output 6 (Violet)
Negative (Yellow) ???
Input 1 (White) ???
Speaker (Brown)
Speaker (Brown)

Curious as to what would be the purpose on a locomotive for the Negative and the Input?

G8B4Life:
The negative is used with a stay alive. The input currently doesn't have a use when the LM is functioning as a locomotive module but can be used if the LM is used as an accessory module.

There is a diagram here:

Instructions for installing the Ring PBM-2 (their stay-alive) can be found here:

Isn't the white input the chuff trigger for steamers?

OccamsRazor:
Thank you all!
