Dead Rail
(1/1)
TomO:
I have seriously been contemplating Dead Rail for over a year. Today I received my boards from BlueRail and for 1 locomotive operation it works very nice. I AM NOT trying to convert anyone to Dead Rail and certainly not to BlueRail. But, I had to try it!
As some of you know I sold my house, layout and the Rail Pro system with it. Lipo batteries have gotten smaller, safer (unless its a hover board) and they are not expensive. I understand the safety concerns of Lipo batteries but have never had an issue with the RC stuff I have. I understand the size issues of the Kato engines I have and may have to have the batteries alone in a trailing unpowered unit.
If I just purchase the LM2 module (I still have 3 uninstalled) and the HC-2 and use battery do I need to buy the power supply? Will everything function without it? The way I am reading all the literature I do not believe I do.
Thoughts please.
TomO
Alan:
No, you do not need a power supply.
But you will need many batteries as time goes by :P
TomO:
Thanks Alan--right after I wrote the post I remembered I took one loco and the controller to a friends layout and ran it there. Senior moment... Batteries can be expensive if you have a large fleet, I no longer do.
What I'm thinking of doing is buy the starter pack. Run with Rail Pro while I experiment with dead rail.
Love you blog and your posts. If I can be 1/3 as organized as you are I will be a very happy Railroader.
Thank you
TomO
