Here's a recent install I did in some Intermountain ES44ACs. With the 9-21 pin harness the number board and rear ditch lights did not operate. On the rear of the main board you need to remove the black wire and add a 1k 1/4 watt resistor to it. I used the rear output violet wire to operate them. Attached is various photos to show what I did. This first picture shows where to remove the wires. In both cases the factory wiring will provide the positive feed for the blue wire through the 9-21 pin harness. ES44AC wiring.jpg

This next photo shows where the 1k 1/4 watt resistor was added for the front number lights. The rear green (output 5) was used for these. ES44AC Number lights.jpg

I this view shows where the black wire to the rear ditch lights was removed and attached to the rear (output 6) violet wire.

Here the body has been placed back on the chassis. Intermountain has a round speaker housing that needs to be removed. This can be popped out once the radiator compartment is lifted off the shell. ES44AC Radiator removed.jpg

When it's all back together this should be your results with all lighting functions working on the engine. Front view. For non flashing ditch lights you will need dual ditch on/off effect. This will send the same output to the front green and violet wires,(output 3 & 4). ES44AC front.jpg

Excellent install, and great pictures.  That explains everything.  You're running modern equipment now??

Kevin, Heck no! These belong to another modeler we'’ve converted to the dark side. They’re only here until Tim finishes the new GEVO ULT sound. Not bad models though and they seem to run pretty decent.

Ahh, that makes sense.  Now we just need to get Tim to hurry up on the new sounds.  GEVO and ET44 he has....just needs to finish them up and get them out!

Yes well I’ve asked for the 7FDL-16 without the muffler to be next. My fleet of U30Cs needs it bad.
After that I’m not sure what he will do. He has quite a few sounds on hand to keep him busy for most of 2018.
I could also use the GP38 engine but another Alco might be better. He has a 12-251 with electric start that might go down well.
The CN has leased some new Tier 4 EMDs so I’m hoping to snag one of those during 2018. It’ll go nice with the Tier 4 ET44s.

I just picked up an Interview Mountain SD-40. Will you have full functionality with the 8-9 pin adapter or will the 21-9 pin be needed with the modification you illustrated?
