Mixing RP/NCE power supplies

Alan:
Nope. No DCC control signal available.

ON28:
So, there's no easy way to connect the NCE base station to the RP power supply?

Alan:
Per the initial reply, the NCE system can be powered by RP power supply. Your layout then effectively becomes a DCC layout with the only purpose the RP power supply serving is to run the NCE booster. In this scenario the RP power supply would not be wired to the track.

OK that makes sense. I have an NCE base station but would have to purchase a booster. I was trying to avoid that expense, about $200.

Alan:
I believe you are confusing NCE radio (base station) with RP radio. NCE uses radio to allow communication between the handheld and a command station whereas RP uses radio to allow communication between the handheld and a locomotive. Big difference.
