Thanks, Joe

Hi Bill, what does your "Roll" button do?

The Roll and Squeal buttons are for recordings I made of a train rolling and Flange or Brake Squeal.
You can find the Squeal here: http://rpug.pdc.ca/index.php?topic=140.0

The Roll sound is not uploaded as I didn't think there was much interest in it.
You can hear it in this video:

They are fun, but could be better.

Does the notching control the sounds, or does it control the throttle?

Thanks

Notching does not control the throttle. The controller buttons control the notching effect.

The way I do it, is to notch up 1-3 notches, then gradually increase the throttle knob, then notch up as necessary, with the appropriate throttle response. Or you could adjust your momentum up, crank up the throttle, then notch up. There are several options on how to control it.

Is this like LokSounds full throttle feature? Where you can increase the prime mover sound without actually increasing the speed of the locomotive? Making it sound as if the train is very heavy?

I'm not familiar with the Loksound feature, but yes, the notching and throttle are independent of each other when using manual notching.

The biggest difference is RailPro's manual notching vs Loksound's Full throttle control is that you never remove the ability to control the speed of the train from the knob. You can always control the train, and you can always control the prime mover sound.  But you cannot currently exit Manual Notching "on the fly" with RailPro, either you're using it, or you're not.

So you mean if you are using manual notching, the prime mover sound is controlled by you, not the throttle? And you just have to set it up on the throttle? This sounds like what I want!
Is there a video that shows this?
Thanks Bill!

My RailPro custom sounds demo uses manual notching exclusively.

Great video's Bill. I love that rolling sound, it adds so much to the whole sound of the train.
