Title: Which power wires do I use on an LGB F-7 Trucks
Post by: trainman605 on December 02, 2025, 11:26:49 AM
I'm going to install Rail Pro in an LGB F-7, which color wires on the power block do I use. I have done this before on my LGB Rio Grande diesel, I'm thinking I used the Brown and Yellow wires, is that correct or not. I think the Red wire is not used, but what is the Red wire used for. Please correct me on this, I could dissemble my LGB diesel to see what I did but would rather not do that just to look inside. Thanks for your help, trainman605

Do your trucks have 3 wires or 4 wires?

Are you running from track or battery?

I can give you the answer if you answer these 2 questions.

4 wires, I did put power to the terminals, and the two outside ones powered the trucks. That was a couple of days ago, I believe they were the Brown and Green ones, if I remember correctly. I will be running RailPro battery power, I could have just looked into my other LGB Diesels which are all running RailPro and battery power, but I would have to remove the body shells to see inside. Thanks, I will wait for your answer, trainman

The best answer is TEST your wiring...  with 4 wire trucks, it's easy to apply power until you see the motors turning... then you know the 2 wires... also you can determine which lead is "positive" so you sync the truck direction.

You can use a multimeter to double check the other 2 wires are track pickups.

NEVER trust the wire colors completely (although LGB rarely makes mistakes)... Aristo and Bachmann are often guilty of inconsistent wiring.
