I received my first shipment of updated HC-2's this week.
The Updated unit is still labelled as an HC-2 but the version indicated in the software is HC-2b.
There is indeed only 1 external port on this thing, and the charger is USB based.

I have requested a list of other improvements from Ring Engineering and I'll post them here when I have them.

Good stuff Bill.
Does the USB charger have anything on it besides the RE sticker (probably under the sticker!) ? I know it'll be 110v input and 5v output but what of the current capability? Seeing as when I get another HC one day I'll have to find a 220v USB charger for it.

That's good news Bill. Do you know if it will be able to charge at the same time as you download from the RPA? Or was that the main idea to make the changes?
Thanks, Joe

Tim indicated this functionality will part of a future update to the software.
Currently it's "Charge from the adapter only, and not while using the HC".

Here's what Tim Ring has to say about the HC-2b:
There has been several internal changes to help our production but the result for customers is not any real difference. For example, we made several design changes that integrated operations and the net result is significantly lower number of parts in a HC-2b compared to a HC-2. The HC-2b has the exact same amount of program memory and storage memory as the HC-2.
You have to load the RailPro Assistant Rev 2.00 or newer for the RailPro Assistant to connect with a HC-2b USB.

Thanks for the pic of the PA-3 info Bill. I won't have to find a new charger at all, just an adapter.

eBay is chock full of 220v units. Some for less than $2.00. 115v units for $0.96 including shipping! All courtesy of the world's factory, China.
