I've had a few people ask about designing a Fascia Mount Holder for the RailPro Throttle.
What do you all think about this design?
It will allow you to still use the HC-2 from the holder and will let you insert and remove the HC while plugged in for charging or programming.

I was wondering when you were going to make a holder Bill. Looks simple and elegant.

Interesting item. Would be rather nice to be padded or just of piece of felt to keep the remote from being scuffed.

yup, I though of that. I'm going to see what I can find for padding too.
-
And here it is!
After a trip to the $1 store I found some craft foam which is perfect for the padding.
I did a few test cuts to refine the design and I have a working example now that holds an HC-2 securely, but not too tightly.
It slides in and out easily even when connected to the charger and usb cable.
It can be mounted on the fascia so the screen sits above the layout surface or mounted lower so it does not stick up.
There are 3 screw holes that accept number 6 countersunk screws. The foam protects the throttle from the screw heads.
For anyone that wants it to be little tighter an extra pieces of foam behind the throttle at the edges will hold it firmly.
Cost including shipping in the US will be $12, or a 5 Pack for $48
What do you think?

Perfect! I'll take one when they are ready for shipment.

great idea, any chance you can add a holder for the uncoupling tool to it? The bamboo skewer is the big choice per MRH.

What kind of holder do you have in mind Tom?
I wouldn't want to block the cord locations.
Perhaps just gluing a straw to the side would do it?
I do also offer these separate tool boxes: http://www.pdc.ca/rr/catalog/product/2-slot-tool-box/49

Good job Bill. One thing I didn't think about before was countersinking the screws. Will there be enough meat left in the hole to prevent tearing out the hole if someone gets a little rough with it or it gets bumped? I was thinking about an extra back piece to make it thick enough to handle the screw head better. Or if the wood is tough enough already, that wouldn't be needed. I'll probably need one for each of my control panels.
Thanks, Joe

Joe, the hole is not tapered, but using a countersinking screw in it is fine.
Just snug it up and the head will be into the foam.

I just downloaded your file for the box, and I see what you did now. That should work fine. I'll send you an order.
Thanks again,
Joe
Hey, I'm a full member now, YEAH ;D

Bill, I just went to the order page and it's showing 5 for $60. Can I send the order in and you will adjust it, or how should I do it?
-
Hi Joe,
Sorry I had not posted the 5 pack, I forgot to set it up!
It's now listed on the same page: http://pdc.ca/rr/catalog/product/railpro-hc-2-throttle-holder/56

Hi Bill,
I like it. When I order the RailPro starter set, I'll add these to the order.

This will be very useful Bill. I'll definitely place my order for a 5 pack.
Thanks.

Friends
Here is my take on the new HC-2 Throttle Holder.
The holder is very nice and my throttle fits in snug but not to tight. I gave the holder a shot of grey primer for now as I didn't know what color to paint it but since it looks good with the primer, that is how it will be now. I would buy another holder or two but I like to have it and throttle where I know it will always be for old age has some drawbacks like memory depreciation. Ever look for something ? Of course it is right where you last left it ! Sounds good to me :)
Happy training, Darryl

I got one of my HC holders assembled today. All I can say is that it is dead nuts easy to put together and it fits the HC like a glove. Now I'm going to have to get in gear and put up some fascia.
Thanks Bill, great job!!
