Title: "DCC Friendly" track elements
Post by: faithie999 on January 04, 2021, 03:43:13 PM
I'm finally designing my layout and am trying to learn as much as I can before I start laying rail.

I discovered an old thread referencing "DCC friendly" crossovers.

I was thinking about using some crossovers in my plan.  what is the implication of "DCC friendly"?

I would have thought a crossover would create a reverse loop situation or short, but I assume that is where "DCC friendly" comes in.

thanks in advance

DCC friendly means no power routing and insulated frogs. Applies only to turnouts and crossovers. Unless you are buying old stuff on eBay, AFAIK all currently available trackwork is DCC friendly.

Reverse loops and shorts are a different matter entirely.
