Title: Long trains and coupler problems
Post by: KB02 on March 02, 2022, 06:01:14 AM
There's nothing like running long trains to weed out all your rolling stock that have couple problems.  ;D

After getting my fourth loco set up on RailPro, I MU'ed my fleet together and put the vast majority of my rolling stock behind it. Granted, when you're only talking 24 cars, it may not seem like much, but when you add in a 3% grade, you find out really quickly which cars have a couple that is mounted too high or too low or is, you know, plastic.  ;D ;D

Been there, done that, did not enjoy it. Kadee enjoyed it. They sold more couplers that day.  ;D

Back in the day when you had to pay attention to metal shank couplers in Athearn locos, I recall pulling the head right off of a Kadee #26 (metal head, plastic shank) on a heavy grade. First and only time I've pulled a "knuckle" in HO.

After that the new requirement was all-metal KDs in insulated boxes.
