Title: Purpose of White Input 1 on 6-Pin Harness
Post by: nodcc4me on April 06, 2017, 12:54:48 PM
I am using some of the outputs, other than the speaker outputs, on the 6-pin LM-3s harness and was wondering what input 1 (white wire) is used for? All of the other connections are outputs.

I don't think Ring has quite defined anything specific for the inputs yet (the LM2 has two of them).  At some point in the future I can assume they will be used for various things like a cam input for chuff synch on steam locos, or perhaps automatic flange squeal when a locomotive's trucks trip a sensor as they swing out.  That's all conjecture at this point, but it seems like Ring built in the inputs in view of future possibilities.

Makes sense. I'm sure he is always thinking ahead. Thanks Kevin!
