Post by: William Brillinger on December 30, 2017, 05:15:28 PM
Ring Engineering officially released the LM-3S-G today.

Of note is the fact that there is a sound sample to listen to on the LM-3S-G web page.
And also the same sound sample is listed on the regular LM-3S page too.

Here is a Photo of the LM-3S-G.
It's Big, and it looks like it has a Keep-Alive cap built in.

I find it interesting that Tim decided to go with a G-scale module before O-scale, which I believe is a lot more popular.

I believe this unit is designed for O and larger.
I suspect the fact that Tim has HO and Garden Scale models himself was a contributing factor.

from the manual:

The LM-3S-G can be installed in a G or O scale model train locomotive that you
want to control the motion, lights, and sounds with a RailPro controller.

Specifications
Maximum Power Input Voltage: 24 Volts
Maximum Motor Stall Current: 8 Amps
Maximum Output Current on a Single Output: 1.2 Amps.
Maximum Output Current on all Outputs Combined: 1.2 Amps.
Audio Output Power: 13 Watts into a 4 ohm load. 7.4 Watts into an 8 ohm load.

Boy that 16-645E3 sounds pretty good with bigger speakers. You can really hear the thing firing on all cylinders!
