Title: How to update RailPro assistant
Post by: SWA737 on January 07, 2019, 05:11:34 PM
It has been a while since I have updated the Railpro assistant. I currently have the 3.20 and need to update to the 3.21.  I am drawing a blank on how to do it. Have the assistant program up but cannot remember how to update to the new revision?
Thanks,
Rob Cooper

In the following link, click on "Download RailPro Assistant" and follow the prompts. It should override your current version.

If you have a problem running the updated program, try running as Administrator.

I had trouble with the RailPro Assistant download.  Ring Engineering was helpful however I needed to find someone with more computer savy than I to work through it.  The problem was with Norton.  My Techie friend found that Norton showed receiving the software from Ring and that it was in evaluation.  The right answer is disabling Norton to download to get it running.  It came up with a warning when I ran it so the final right answer is uninstall Norton and move on to other anti-virus.
I appreciate the help I got from Ring Engineering.

Ken, if you are running Windows 10, the built-in Windows Defender is probably all you need. Having said that, I have been using Super Antispyware for about six years. Back then, I picked up a virus and nothing I tried would remove it. A local computer store installed SaS and that got rid of it. The program doesn’t slow down the computer so I leave it on there and run a scan now and then. It is a free download.
