CI-1 setup help
« on: March 22, 2018, 09:46:55 AM »
Need some help getting HC simulator up and running. Software is loaded and seems to be talking to Railpro assistant.  However now all I’m getting is a blank screen that says “Main Page”. No input seems to move past this point. Note I do not have an HC controller, just the CI-1.

You don’t need an HC2 unless you are using the CI-1. You don’t need the CI-1 unless you are using the Simulator to run trains or work with files.

Try deleting the Simulator in the Ring Engineering folder, and reinstall it.

I am trying to use the CI-1 to work with files and run trains. I’ll invest in a HC2 at a later date.  I’ve tried to uninstall and reload the simulator with no effect.

When you plug in the CI-1, does it say “CI-1 installed (or CI-1 connected)?

Yes, it acknowledges the CI-1.

On the Simulator, did you try to Find Product?

Doesn’t get to the point of giving me the option to select anything.

There has to be some files missing if the screen is blank. The Sim storage file is buried in the Windows\Users\Apps folder. When you delete the Sim you may need to delete the storage file as well. Then reinstall the program. Sorry, I don’t remember the exact location of that file but you shoul be able to find it.

Thanks Al. I’ll take a look for it

Can you post a screen shot of the simulator with the error?

The data file can be found here: C:\ProgramData\Ring Engineering\RailPro HC Simulator

Here's what I'm seeing.

That's a good indication of corruption right there. First I'll ask a question, and then give you an answer.

Was HC Sim like this from the very start (it never worked) or did it do this sometime later (it was working and then at some stage later this happened)?

It it was previously working try this: In C:\ProgramData\RingEngineering\RailPro HC Simulator\ delete the file RscLoaded and then try HC Sim again (this file seem to be the usual culprit). If this doesn't fix it then you'll want to delete the storage file (HC Simulator Storage) and reinstall HC Simulator to recreate it.

If it never worked we'll sort that out when you get back.

Never gotten it to work. I had to use the offline installer to even get the program installed. I’ll try to take a look at the files after I get home later.

Tried deleting the rscloaded file.  HC Simulator is now functioning.  Now I need to learn how to use it.  Thanks everyone for the assistance.
