Unusual speed number display

Was running today and noticed a smaller type, whole number in the same box and below the speed number. It was the decimal speed as a whole number -- 1% for speed 0.1-1%, 2% for 2.0-2.9%, etc. It was not the brake percentage, which is below the speed number box. Anyone know what this is? It occurred in the lead unit of a three-unit consist running on NCE power at 14.25v.

Sounds like you had turned on the 'load' function, to simulate a heavy train. if you have the load turned up even slightly that would activate the feature. My 2cents.

I checked and the Load function was at zero for both units.

It's because it was a consist.

And /or the trim settings on the setup page... both of mine do that

Just unlinked the consist, checked, both locos' Load at zero. Re-linked, got the same subscript percentage again. Is this a version issue -- what version are we up to, I updated about a month or so ago.

The second number is always there regardless of load setting. It's part of the new software package.  With no load the second number will pretty much match the main number. N increasing load causes the second number to lag behind.  Think of the big number as the power applied to the prime mover and the smaller number the speed of the train.
