HC-2B Free Storage 68 %

Good Day All:

Finally got around to opening my brand new, from yankee dabbler, railpro starter kit.

I was messing around with the HC-2B.  Made my way to tools, then to software update and, in that window, at the bottom is printed, Free Storage = 68%.

What the heck?  This is supposed to be a brand new controller.  How can 32% of the storage space be already used up?

Any explanation or did I get a used controller?

This is correct reporting and 68% sounds about right from memory. All of the screens that the HC displays take up space (they are files just like anything else on the HC) so they take away from the free space remaining so you will never see 100% free space remaining even if you have a "blank" brand new HC.

There may also be other files preloaded on to the HC as a convenience as well (such as light effects, prime mover sound) but it's been way too long since I got my HC to remember

That’s what I figured.  Just didn’t think it would be 32%.  Thought more like 15%.
