BLI USRA Light Mikado 2-8-2
« on: September 22, 2017, 07:57:30 PM »
New RailPro user here, so far I’ve converted 14 of 28 locomotives I have, a mixture of Athearn Genesis, Atlas, and proto 1000 diesel locos. All use the LM-3.

I just picked up a used BLI Paragon light mikado, it came with DCC and sound, and I want to replace that with RailPro. Has anybody attempted this yet? Not sure if I can just disconnect the six pin plug  from the factory board and splice into the appropriate wires and connect an LM-3, as. I have not been able to locate a schematic or a pin diagram.

Ike,

Welcome. One member here may have done a Paragon steamer, but I haven't seen a post from that member in a long time. I don't have any myself so I can't help very much but firstly I'd suggest trying to map out the plug from the loco with a multimeter (you may have to take the boiler off to trace any light wires). Other than that all I can suggest it trying some more searching. I came up with these that may or may not help:

http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/27366 (a wiring diagram of a tender plug is included in the replies. May not be the same as your loco)

http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/26278 (a diagram is included in the replies of what various jumpers on the PCB's are, right click and view the full size image)

Welcome Ike!

User nhhotrain posted about this engine in the past but did not give any details.

Perhaps you can contact this user via the PM or Email options under his username and find out how it went.
If you have no luck with that, it sounds like (from his post) you can get a diagram by contacting BLI.

Please let us know how it goes!
