General Discussion / Accessory Project for powering air solenoids
« Last post by Jim Agnew on Today at 01:01:17 PM »
Has anyone developed an accessory project for the AM-1S, that can control an air solenoid? If so, I would appreciate knowing what logic was used. Thanks.

After not using my HC-2 for 10-12 months I found my unit would not charge. I tried all the ways that Rail Pro said to do it, but no luck. Ater talking to Rail Pro I just mailed it to them for a battery replacement and checkout the unit, it just made sense and the cost is not that much for them to do the work. Thanks Rail Pro.

Thank you!  This was quite helpful. I just checked another LM and it is good.

That is correct, giving the LM "track power" (which could even be as simple as a non-dead 9v battery btw) will power up the LM, nothing else needs to be connected for it to respond and downloaded to etc.

Now, are the LM's brand new (ie, bought from a retailer) or second hand? if second hand even if the HC still doesn't detect the LM's they may not be faulty but the previous owner could have put a password on them, which can be cleared in following the instructions in the HC manual.

RailPro Specific Help & Discussion / Testing LM-3
« Last post by Michael on May 14, 2024, 09:34:40 PM »
Hello Everyone:

I recently purchased several LM-3's. However, I just hardwired two locos without success (I have other locos that have been hardwired with much success). The HC-2 does not find any product. From doing research on this site, I believe there is a way to test the LM without  doing an installation. Do I simply attach the red lead and the black lead (from the LM) to the positive and negative rail? Doing this, will the HC-2 recognize the LM if it is not defective?

Thanks for any help.

Here is a thread showing how to replace the batteries: https://rpug.pdc.ca/index.php/topic,1445.msg10570.html

They plug in, no soldering required.

RailPro Specific Help & Discussion / Re: Charging HC2 battery question
« Last post by trainman605 on May 05, 2024, 06:11:08 AM »
I just tried to charge my HC-2 after letting it set for some 9 months, it will say Done and the battery indicator will be White for a short time and then start flashing Red. After a short time the screen will turn off, I can unplug and plug in the charger again and the screen will do the same thing again. Note here I can not turn the HC-2 on with the button, but it has come on at times for a short time, one to two seconds at best and then shuts off. I feel my batteries are dead and will not take a charge, I had it plugged in overnight with no results. Should I replace the batteries, or just send it into Ring and have them do it, plus they can also checkout the HC-2 for it operation. Are these batteries a plug in type, or do they have to be soldered in, what are the voltages and does this battery have a model number. I can probably do the replacement, but if sending it to Ring is better I would rather do it that way. Thanks for any info you can give me. trainman

Thanks, I will try it.  Right now my locomotive is with a club member.  Originally bought as track power and he is doing the conversion for me,
