RailPro Specific Help & Discussion / Uploading Loco photos through HC Simulator
« Last post by Espeelark on January 30, 2024, 01:32:28 PM »
I've got questions.....
I used HC Simulator (HCS) in combination with RailPro Assistant (RPA) to upload a custom loco image I made for my new ATSF GP38 #3501.
Using the HCS, I was able to acquire the new LM-3S installed in the my ATSF GP38 and successfully change the image from the stock RE blue loco image to my custom ATSF #3501 image.
Then I closed the HC Simulator on my computer and turned on one of my HC-2B's. It found the new LM-3S GP38 but showed the stock RE blue loco image. So, I then selected "locomotive Setup" and tapped on the stock RE blue loco image. Then, I've had both of the following happen (because I tried multiple times):
A) It listed both "RE Loco" and "3501 ATSF GP38 c/f". I selected the ATSF GP38 and it said "please wait" and finished what it was doing, but the image/icon did not change/update.
or
B) After selecting "3501 ATSF GP38 c/f" from the list it comes back and says, "File not local!".

I thought that once the custom loco file was saved/uploaded to the LM-3S that whenever any HC-2B subsequently discovered it for the first time that all of the custom files (image, sound, lights, etc.) were transferred/displayed/shown on that HC-2B?

I even tried "Remove Product" from that HC-2B and then re-acquiring it. That made no difference.

What am I missing?

Somebody upgrading to the new HC-3's?  I love the feel of the new controller.  Night and day difference.

RailPro Specific Help & Discussion / Re: Ring MIA at Springfield

Yeah, I would love to see Ring Engineering out there more.  If people at these shows had the chance to get a hands-on test of Railpro's tech there would be a lot of interest.

One thing to think about in a setting like that is how crowded are the radio waves?  Railpro operates on 2.4 gHz, which is the same as many other things.  Would wave band saturation be a problem?

Either way, getting modelers to buy in requires hands-on.  I can do some with the modelers I run into, but that's a pretty small group.  Amherst, or even a smaller show, would be great.

RailPro Specific Help & Discussion / Ring MIA at Springfield

Back from the big Amherst show and, as usual, Ring choosing not to exhibit. Such a missed opportunity to create buzz, make connections, and broaden the market for RailPro. Not just scale, but the garden railway segment is well-represented, too. Does Ring appear at any hobby events? I talk up RP and its great features, and get a lot of blank looks from people who want to know more but have never even heard of it. One well-known manufacturer of electrical components who should known better actually said, "My products won't work with Ring's electricity!" (Which isn't even true.)

Here's the thing: I was looking at the new BL2 loco at the Bachmann booth. I asked a rep, why bother with a fringey, postwar diesel that sold less than 60 units? "Because we need to create excitement and interest in the brand, and around the rest of our products!" he said.

Attendance on Saturday was 15,612, a record. Seems like a missed opportunity, especially with the new HC to demonstrate.

That's entirely possible Bill. At 75, my mind is like a sieve now. I'm just hanging around waiting to see what falls off next.

I believe this is where you placed that initial order, when you thought you ordered one from me.

General Discussion / HUGE SURPRISE

yesterday I received a new HC3 from
Tim Ring. I didn't order it nor did I expect it to be available before the end of
february. He did charge me the retail price, and used my payment info from previous orders.

I have not had time to play with it yet, but I hope to soon.

Did anyone else get one?
