RailPro Discussion & Help / Consisting Problem
« on: February 21, 2020, 05:46:16 PM »
I have two identical Life-Like PA-1's. They both run well by themselves but when consisted, one of them will constantly post a "Motor over current" error as soon as the throttle is raised. If I break the link and reset the LM-2s it will run just fine again. The full current setting is almost the same on both locomotives. Any ideas on what to look for?

RailPro Installations / BLI Blue Line F7-A Installation Question
« on: December 26, 2017, 08:50:55 AM »
Has anyone done one of these? I am considering getting one, and wondering if there is enough room for a LM. Blue Line models already have a speaker installed.

RailPro Discussion & Help / 9 Pin Plug Removal Techniques
« on: November 09, 2017, 08:59:06 AM »
One thing that has really annoyed me when installing, testing or changing LM's is the difficulty in removing 9 pin harness connectors from the modules without breaking wires or putting excess strain on the modules themselves. Has anyone come up with an easy way to grasp and remove these connectors?

RailPro Discussion & Help / CI-1 Not Installed
« on: November 04, 2017, 10:22:52 AM »
I bought a new Dell laptop running Win10. RPA and the HC Simulator have been installed. Windows recognized the CI-1 and set it up, but the Sim is not seeing it. I have repeated the installation twice with the same result. Any suggestions?

General Discussion / button picture descriptions, was: website sound list
« on: September 29, 2017, 05:20:43 PM »
Speaking of lists, I believe someone posted a list of button picture descriptions awhile back. I was unable to find it. Can anyone help me out with a link? Also, there are many more that have been added, so it would be nice to have a complete list. The Ring website doesn't have such a list. If no one on here has that information I'll ask Tim for one.

RailPro Discussion & Help / Purpose of White Input 1 on 6-Pin Harness
« on: April 06, 2017, 12:54:48 PM »
I am using some of the outputs, other than the speaker outputs, on the 6-pin LM-3s harness and was wondering what input 1 (white wire) is used for? All of the other connections are outputs.

RailPro Discussion & Help / Power Supply Question
« on: January 30, 2017, 10:08:42 AM »
I am looking for a regulated power supply for my short test track, which is away from my layout, and don't want to spend the money for a PWR56. Currently, i am using an old DC power pack that bounces the voltage causing the prime movers to cut out. I would need to run 2 locomotives together at most. Would either of these two work?

RailPro Discussion & Help / Installation Anomaly
« on: November 11, 2016, 02:15:07 PM »
I have a NOS Spectrum 4-8-2,DCC ready, that I wanted to install an LM-2s in. It seemed to run fine in DC when i first checked it, and it even has a firebox light. When I plugged in the module, it started to run, but stalled, and I couldn't make contact again. That night, I brought it to the club (Digitrax) and we put the dummy plug back in. It shorted out the system. We dismantled the entire locomotive but couldn't find the problem. Yesterday, I removed the circuit board and hard wired it but still could not get a connection between the HC-2 and the module. I spent quite a bit of time checking the continuity again, and discovered that the factory had wired the 2-pin plug on the locomotive backwards, so the feed to the tender was opposite of what it should have been. I switched the connections in the tender, making sure the module was getting the right polarity, and now it is running as it should, except I didn't wire the firebox light so that is not working.  I can't explain why it initially ran on DC.  ???

I am posting this in case one of you has a similar problem. I did some reading and found that others have had similar problems with Spectrum steam engines. I have several of them but with no issues previously.

RailPro Discussion & Help / New Steam Sound File
« on: May 10, 2016, 08:12:53 AM »
There is a new heavy steam file for LM-1 modules, which have limited storage compared to the LM-2s modules. The previous version takes up a lot of room in the module, leaving little room, if any, for other sound files. I had mentioned this to Tim last year. The new file sounds pretty good- similar to the previous one, and includes the compressor, but not the turbo. I was able to add coal and water sounds. There is still not enough room for the blowdown, but it's an improvement.
