RailPro Specific Help & Discussion / Re: Mac and RailPro
« Last post by darryl.trains on May 29, 2025, 12:51:01 AM »
Sometime back when I did a show and tell at the local club with the usage of RailPro, two members said it was very interesting but since RP does not work with Apple, they both said no deal. Also one of the members asked about using RP in N scale engines? Well we all know that answer. Too bad but RP could have been more user friendly.  Oh ya, I had to buy a cheap PC but it went belly up sometime back and I'm not going to buy another one. Your version ?

I'm using my Macbook with Bootcamp partitioned off for windows RailPro. Works good except sometimes I forget how to jump back and forth!

RailPro Specific Help & Discussion / LM-4S-G Reset
« Last post by Aeronut on May 28, 2025, 12:25:08 AM »
I need some help with my latest G scale install - is there any waay to reset the LM-4S-G back to factory settings.  No matter what I try, I can't change the engine sound - maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I think I've tried just about everything over the last couple of days.
Thanks!

Thanks for the info - totally understand the warmer weather thing - boating season for us.

I like the copper tape thing also - very slick.

Howdy Pat!
Unfortunately I have not progressed my SW1500 install beyond my last post - way too many other things competing for my time now that nice weather has arrived. Not to worry however, I will update this post as I progress the install.
I don't see any way to leave the board in and make everything fit. On bigger locos however, sure. I initially used the OEM PC boards but have since then made a choice to remove all boards and do a hard install. Personal preference.

ON28 - Copper beading tape is definitely a plus. I have tried it. For this SW1500, I plan to use some printed circuit board strips for the common blue wire needs of the headlights.

Welcome LVRR1856!

I don't consider myself a vet - I still ask lots of questions too!

I use Keep-Alives in all of my installs. Keeps the sound and lights running and helps with switches/dirty track.

Well that is encouraging to say the least, I have 2 44 ton GEs/Spectrums. I too was convinced this was a no-go.

Thanks Faithie999 - I guess part of the RP investment is going to be a good milling tool setup. I have a bench grinder - used on weight milling, but a press and milling bits might be the way to go.

What a hobby, I thought boats required special tooling, here we go. LOL.

Nice illustration - I am looking at all the HO installs I can find.

Great ideas - I didn't know what copper bead tape or printed circuit board were till just now .... seem like both can be space savers and keep wire clutter to a minimum.

All happy with the Athearn Install ?

I would prefer to use the factory board if it allowed enough room, but then again, I have not installed any yet.

Would leaving the board work ? Maybe not in Switchers ? But bigger locos ? Lots of questions - newbie here.

Thanks
Pat

Great illustration, was looking for something like this.

Does the keep alive work often ? Do you use them in all installs ?
I imagine with short wheel base locos they are good to have around switches etc ?

Sorry for all the questions - I am a newbie to RP, appreciate advice from the Vets.
