Lights and Wire Color Choice
« on: November 27, 2024, 09:58:55 AM »
Howdy everyone!
I'm underway on an Athearn U50 install and was wondering if there is a "best practice" when it comes to which color wire (green or violet) I should use when wiring up a typical Southern Pacific oscillating headlight. Or does it matter not?
Thanks!

It really does not matter. They are all the same.

Some, like front lamp and rear lamp are pre-programmed, but even those can be changed if desired.

What ever you do decide, I try to do all mine the same, I run 95% Scaletrains locks that I have hard wire RP lm3-s’ in. I use the white and yellow for ditch lights, purples for front rear headlights, so on. Makes it easy for me to remember when I do new locks. Hope this helps.
