Electro Couplers in RailPro
« on: August 05, 2021, 05:59:59 PM »
I'm starting my 2nd install.  I am upgrading an O scale MTH proto 1 GP38.  That model has electronic proto couplers.

I can't get RP to fire the coupler with the +5v.  I have read those older MTH couplers need 12v.

Has anyone successfully hooked up electro couplers?

Thanks.
Ron

You can always look into a voltage step-up converter.  Pololu makes some that are small are easy to use.  I had to use a 3.7 to 12 volt converter for my battery powered locomotive.  The battery only puts out 3.7 volts but the LM needs 12-14.  Works like a charm.

For your situation, you could put one on the output wires going to the couplers.  As far as I know that should work.

I never heard of such a thing.  I'll look into it.  Thank you.

Or simply a small 5V coil relay.
