A tad confused
« on: October 17, 2017, 02:55:57 PM »
I' m quite new to RailPro but after much research am dipping my toe in.

It was my understanding that if I bought a CI1 and installed the HC simulator and the RailPro Assistant, that I could "install" locos and sounds on my computer and it would be just like having the HC-2 - controlling the locos from my computer instead of the HC-2.

So i fire up  RP Assistant, click pictures, choose an RR, choose a loco, click ADD, and it is shown on the window to the right (under "Download List to Handheld...".

But that's it.

There's never a list of locos I've "Added".
How do I know if it's working?
The Setup worked fine, I'm connected and signed in ok, but now what?
I'm working on installing an LM3S but I'm not all that comfortable at doing so (no 9 pin plug in loco I'm using, so I'll have to, shudder, solder tiny wires).
So does this system require an active LM3S to be "on the air" to show me something, or have I done something wrong install-wise?
I do realize that the CI1 is only useful if I want to control LM3S equipped locos, so having it plugged into computer should be irrelevant here - right?

Greetings!

You're on the right track.

You download files to the HC Simulator from the RailPro Assistant Software.
Once you have the files on the HC Sim, you can then load them onto an active LM and then control it.

You'll want to review the HC-2 manual for complete instructions on configuring LM's and the other functions of the HC.

I don't know why the HC sim manual does not include the HC manual.

Here is a link to the complete manual as found on the HC page on Ring Engineering's Website.

It might be easier to follow for what you need to know initially. Written specifically for new users and covers what you are asking in what I hope is an easy to follow format.
