EMD 12-645 ULT
« on: August 28, 2021, 08:17:28 PM »
New prime mover file released today: EMD 645-12 ULT.  This is a recording of the EMD 12-645E, a non-turbo prime mover.  Appropriate locomotives would include the following:

GP15-1, GP15AC, SW-1500, SW-1504, MP15AC, MP15DC

I loaded it up and tested everything out.  The sound is great, as usual.  Very nice and smooth up and down notches, great exhaust and underlying sounds.  The air blasts are also very nice on this file.

Another job well done Ring!

KPack, I have a D&RGW #50 Switcher which I'm using a GMD early Rail Pro sound, I know this is not the correct sound or even close to what the sound should be, but RP does not offer a sound for this engine. Do you think that the new sound would sound better then what I'm using, I run the sound level low to help coverup the true sound of what I'm currently using, thanks.

Trainman - the 12-645 ULT file will sound MUCH better than the old Railpro sounds.  It won't be correct for the model, but the I think you'll like the change.  The old Railpro sounds are very much lacking in many ways.

KPack, that's the sound I'm using in the #50, Don Sweet told me at the time I installed the system that that is what he would use. Thanks for the reply, I will just stick to what I have installed in the switcher it does sound ok and I'm happy with it.

You mean the switcher uses this particular sound file?  When did you install it?  This file was released less than a week ago.  If you are using an older file, you might want to switch to this one.

Yes, I did use the older version.  I just purchased a new module for my SD-40 this week (Nov. 2) and it comes with the new sound, I think, so I will check out and see how it sounds.

Don't forget that you can change the sounds on the LM-4S to whatever you want.  The modules ship from Ring Engineering with the EMD 16-645 ULT sound preloaded.  That's what you want for the SD40.  But for other locomotives, just change it to whatever you prefer.
