I know for my first light wiring of the module that I got the LED's wired backward and as you know LED's only will light in one direction, easy fix as I knew right quick what I did wrong. My module did work as it should after switching the wires and all was set from the factory in the correct possession. I try to keep my wiring colors to match the RailPro color codes, just easier to trace any problems you might have on down the road. I think you mentioned that you had downloaded several sounds and you didn't want to loose them, I thought these sounds were stored in the hand controller and transfer to the modules is very fast, ie., no loss of sounds. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The handhold doesn’t hold much. And transfer for me takes a long time.

Bill - absolutely.  My led didn't light b/c there were two wired together in a way that probably made them a 6 volt.  Even now at 100% brightness setting they are a little dim.  BTW, the brightness adjustment is a nice feature.
