Ditch Lights Flashing with Horn Based on Direction?
« on: May 31, 2025, 11:41:44 PM »
I'm setting up an LM-3S-21 in a CSX MP15AC and can’t get the ditch lights to flash with the horn based on direction of travel.

I’ve assigned front and rear ditch lights to separate on/off and flash buttons (4 total). When I hit the horn, only the front ditch lights flash—regardless of travel direction or which lights are on. I enabled directional lighting, but that didn’t change anything.

Has anyone gotten directional ditch light flashing to work with the horn? Or do I need to contact Ring for a custom function?

Thanks!

This unfortunately has always been the case. I don't remember if I contacted Ring about it or not at the time I wrote about it in my ditch lights guide 9 - 10 years ago but it was around then when I stopped myself slipping forwards in era so ultimately I didn't care about it any further because I don't need ditch lights.

Your best bet is to ask Ring "Why aren't flashing ditch lights on horn directional?"

I contacted Ring, and they confirmed that only the front ditch lights support flashing. Hopefully, a future software update will enable directional flashing. For now, I’ve disabled the horn-triggered flashing on the MP15AC, as the front ditch lights flash regardless of travel direction.
