Old Dynamic Brake Sound File?
« on: January 05, 2026, 03:58:35 PM »
Happy New Year Group!

With our new computer, I needed to re-download a bunch of sound files and I inadvertently downloaded BOTH of the available Dynamic Brake sound files. While the DASH 8 version is nice for the newer stuff, in watching old videos of SP power battling the mountains, that droning noise that was the old file still has a use. So I went and uploaded the old file to a loco - to my surprise it was the same as the DASH 8 sound file.

I have a couple of locos with the old file still on the module, is there a way to copy the file from the module to the hand-held or RP Assistant so I could then copy it to new locos? Or does someone still have the old file and I could make a custom file?

There is no way to copy a file from a module. Give Tim Ring a call and let him know the two files on RPA are the same. He might have the old file.

If you're using the HC Simulator Switcher, I can send you a storage file that has the original file on it.

Hey Bill,

I don't use the HC Simulator as the computer is upstairs and across the house from where they layout is located. Far too many house related items (main beam, floor joists, ducts, wiring, etc. between the computer and the layout for a CI to work.

I could download the HC Simulator if there is a way to get the sound file from it to the physical handheld?

Sorry, There is no way to transfer to the physical handheld from the sim that I am aware of.
