Different locos, same number?
« on: January 21, 2026, 05:15:13 PM »
Can I assign the same loco ID to multiple locos?

eg. say an ABA set of F units, all programmed to a single Icon on the HC?

Each LM can have only one name at a time, but if you consist the locomotives, you can control all of them with any one of them and switch to a different one at will.

This would defeat the "Load Sharing Technology" used in MU'g locos. They most likely would not be speed matched and eventually damage gears or strip drive shafts etc ...

Once you MU the set, it is stored and always there until you "unlink" them. Just have to select the lead or any of them and the MU should show up.

that load sharing aspect really sold me on keeping each loco a separate entity

If you have more than one HC, just remember that only the specific HC that created the link will be able to "see" the linked locos after the track power has been cycled off/on.
