Brake Sounds?
« on: September 07, 2017, 08:58:55 PM »
Can somebody explain what these Brake Sounds are supposed to represent and how they should be used?

Brake Automatic Release
Brake Automatic Set
Brake SafeSet Release
Brake SafeSet Set

I've always wondered.

Bill, the Safeset is a model of electric hand brake (parking Brake) that EMD uses on their SD70M-2/ACe locomotives.
I recently sent Tim a recording of the standard ratchet type hand brake EMD and others used for years. I also have done a wheel type hand brake like fitted to SD45s/40s & U30Cs etc.
The Automatic release and automatic set isn't correctly labeled. I had to listen to them. It's actually the GE version of the electric parking brake fitted to their line of newer locomotives.
The file marked hand brake set and hand brake release isn't mine and sounds like the type fitted to a freight car.
