How much length is needed to fit an LM-3s module?
« on: March 18, 2019, 12:24:09 PM »
I don't have a rail pro system yet but am working towards being ready to purchase one.  I was hoping one of you fine folks can tell me the appropriate planning length for installing an LM-3s.  Assume I am hardwired to a 9 pin harness that will be plugged into one end of the LM3s and using the plug on the other end to wire the speaker.  Given this setup, how many inches or cm of length do I need to fit all the wiring + module neatly into a locomotive?

Module is 1.5" long. There is 0.050" of each connector extending beyond plug when inserted. Total length not counting flexible wires = 1.6" or 1-39/64". Allowing a little space for the wires, use 1-3/4" as a minimum clear install length as rule-of-thumb.
