General Discussion / Horn websites

Is there a website that tells what engines use what horns for specific road names?

All Rings software (RPA / HC Sim) is at this time Windows only.  He has stated it's written so as to be able to be used on other OS's in the future but I don't see it ever happening.

Hi all,
Does anyone know if RailPro Assistant will run on a chromebook, or does it need to be a windows based computer?

Thanks,
Bill

RailPro Specific Help & Discussion / My assesment of the HC-3
« Last post by Josephbw on February 02, 2024, 02:54:49 PM »
I give it an A+.

The first thing you'll want to do is input the locos info. And it couldn't be any simpler. All you do is go to the home page and touch the Find Product button. Place all your engines on a live track, and it will find all your engines one at a time and transfer the settings to the HC-3. after each one has been found and input to the HC-3 it will tell you to save the updates, then it will search for the next engine.

As far as the HC-3 itself, it is a little lighter than the HC-2 and a little smaller. The only issue I had with it was accidentally bumping the horn button on occasion, But that is because I am clumsy and don't pay as close attention as I should.

The speed control knob has more texture than the old ones and gives you a better sense of control of the speed. Most other functions are the same or very similar to the old HC's.

I didn't order a lanyard, also because as I said before (I'm Clumsy) and I didn't want it hanging in front of me where I could potentially bang it into the layout and break something.

Like I said before I give it an A+

Happy Joe

RailPro Specific Help & Discussion / Re: Uploading Loco photos through HC Simulator

You're probably right.  I didn't catch that glitch in 2.26 because by that time all my locomotives had already been loaded.  But like Bill I'm glad to hear that it was resolved in 2.29.

It's good for people to know how it's supposed to operate, so hopefully your experience helps someone else avoid the same issue.

KPack said, "When acquiring a locomotive with a new picture, the picture is copied from the LM to the HC when the product is found."

KPack - That did NOT happen with my first two HC's. I had to load the image to each of those HC's. later determined that they were only at s'ware rev 2.26.
However, what you described DID happen on my 3rd HC which was at s'ware rev 2.29.

The only conclusion I can draw here its that s'ware rev 2.26 has a glitch in it w/respect to receiving the picture from an LM the first time it finds it.

If you have a locomotive saved on a HC with the stock RE image, and then update the LM picture on another HC, the quickest way to update on the first HC is to erase the locomotive from the HC (remove product).  Then reacquire the locomotive (find product).  It will now save with the updated picture.

File settings and pictures are saved locally to the LM.  When acquiring a locomotive with a new picture, the picture is copied from the LM to the HC when the product is found.

Really liking the new controller look, but I can't justify the cost to upgrade. Wonder if we can convince Ring to do a trade-in program??

Seconded!
