HC Simulator and Windows 11
« on: June 22, 2026, 05:06:09 PM »
Does anyone know if there is a compatibility issue with Windows 11 and HC Simulator?
I've got a new Desktop PC that is windows 11 compliant. I installed both HC Simulator and RailPro Assistant. RailPro Assistant appears to be fine.
When I started up HC Simulator however, it started as usual, but then when I tried to download some files from the Ring Engineering website and it "glitched". This is what I get now when I start it up:

I "uninstalled" it, down-loaded it again, and i still get the same thing.
Thoughts?

I found times that sometimes would connect and other not. I just kept trying. But my issues may very well be I am using windows 11 via Parallels on a Mac. My prior Mac with windows 7 had no issues.

HC Simulator should be compatible with Win11.

You most likely have a corrupted file. Try this. Open up Explorer and go to C:\ProgramData\Ring Engineering\RailPro HC Simulator and look for a file named RscLoaded (it has no file extension) and delete it. It will be recreated when you next start HC Simulator.

If you not comfortable doing that then let us know and we'll work out a script or something for you to run instead.

Thanks Tim.
I don't see that file. Here's what that folder shows:

perhaps you are not set to VIEW the file details..

In the explorer window, at the top menu, there is a "VIEW" dropdown.

set to DETAILS first, then

you want to show hidden files, and file extensions... at least...

Hit VIEW, then at the bottom of the menu, there is SHOW, slide to the right and you will see the options.

Thanks gregusa.
I did that - turned on both file extensions and hidden files. No change. Same result.....

just for grins, turn on system files too... it's not likely to be the issue, but trying to cover all bases

Doesn't show me an option to turn on "system files".

sorry, in 11 they took it out of the easy place.

Control Panel >>> File Explorer Options
that will bring up a small window with 3 tabs
the middle tab will say VIEW
in there you will see all the options you used to be able to get to easily...
