Greetings one and all:

I am installing an lm2S in my Mehano Ho steam locomotive.  This is being wired from scratch.

Originally the tender had power to the pickups.  On the instruction sheet, the locomotive wheel pickups are fed by the red and the black wires.  Can I splice into those red and black wires and run the spliced wires to the tender wheel pickups to give power to the tender.?

Or is there any point to getting power to the tender wheels, since now, the rear light no longer draws power from the tender.

Thank you in advance for…enlightening…me. lol

Kind regards,

Max

It's definitely more comfortable but I haven't gotten used to the buttons yet. Tapping the screen is an old habit.  ;)

I've had only one minor issue with the HC-3. It sometimes didn't remember the direction of the follower in a consist. Tim Ring already knew about it and fixed it in update 1.06.

I never saw that come up during my testing.  Interesting.  I still have my HC-2's, but I find myself picking up the HC-3 almost exclusively to run trains.  It's so much more comfortable.

I need to update my HC-3.  Haven't had time yet with the layout building taking my time.  But so far I have had zero issues with the HC-3.

I heard back from Ring today. I told them I got the HC-3 working after the battery shut down. They said they haven't heard of this happening before, and said the locomotive information screen program (Where the freeze occurred) hasn't changed from the HC-2 to the HC-3, so they're not sure what happened. I did learn there is an "Auto off" feature......which I will read up on and turn on.

Thanks,
Bill

Latest update....
The battery in the HC-3 finally gave out this afternoon. I was able to charge it back up to 100%, and was able to run a train.
I will still contact Ring to see if there has been a history of this happening or if this is a one off. Hopefully it was just a one time glitch....

Hi Bill,
Ok, I will give them a call. Per your email earlier this week I updated the program to rev 1.06.
As of this morning there has been no change to the HC. I'm assuming the battery will die soon, and maybe that will do something.
Thanks,
Bill

you'll get a faster response by phone with Ring.

Also According to Ring, there is an urgent update, they say: Please update the program on HC-3's as soon as possible.  Rev 1.06 or newer is an important update.
